  • Preparing Your Hair For Highlights

A few days before you go to your hairdresses for your colouring session, we recommend that you clarify your hair. Use a mixture of shampoo and baking soda, clarifying shampoo by itself or even apple cider and vinegar. After your clarifying treatment, condition your hair as normal.

Deep conditioning is also vital for restoring moisture before your highlight treatment. This will help restore the pH of your hair, whilst also making sure that your ends are moisturised. All of this means that the colour and hair will mix evenly. Hair dye usually dries out hair, so by conditioning beforehand, you are bound to fight against the dull version of the colour you desire.

  • Blow Drying Long Hair

Many people say that constant blow drying of the hair will cause damage in the long run, but if you dry your hair carefully with the correct techniques you can avoid this problem.

    • Wash your hair with a moisturising shampoo, which will help your hair whilst it’s being blow-dried later.
    • When drying your hair with a towel, do so enough to stop the dripping. Do not rub your hair too hard as this may cause split ends and frizziness. Instead blot the water out of your hair by wrapping the towel around.
    • Before your start to blow dry, separate your hair into smaller sections. This will make the drying process much quicker. If your hair is very long, you can use clips to help.
    • Blow dry from the top and work down. Make sure to stay around 6 inches away from your scalp.
    • Do not completely dry your hair as it does need some moisture.
  • Shaving Your Head

If you’ve decided to shave your head for the first time, it’s a brave step you’ve decided to make! If you’re looking to have a sharp, stylish hair cut which doesn’t need maintenance, then shaving your head may be the best option for you.

We recommend you get someone else to shave your hair for you, if you’re not confident with a pair of clippers. Also it’s much easier, as a second pair of eyes come in handy when shaving the back of your head.

Before you shave your hair, it would be a good idea to shave your hair to the shortest length possible. This will help when you start to shave your head.

Once you’ve shaved your head (using shaving gel), rinse your head and then use aftershave to sooth any burns you may have.

  • How To Dye Only Your Bangs

Dyeing only certain parts of your hair has become a popular trend in recent years. Many people avoid dyeing only their bangs at home, as it’s seen as a complicated procedure.  Well we’re here to help and have broken down the process into 3 easy steps.

    1. Use a comb to separate your bangs from the rest of your hair. Pull the rest of your hair back with an elastic band.
    2. Apply your favoured dye colour to your bangs, then place a later of aluminium foil under and over your bangs. Aluminium foil is there to prevent dye from getting on your forehead. Let the dye sit in your hair for the manufacturers recommended amount of time.
    3. Rinse out bangs thoroughly.
